What was he thinking?!

I understand what Prez O was trying to convey with the “King of Beers” message, but he missed out on a grand opportunity to showcase some of our finest beers when he sits down for what’s being called the Beer Summit.
Before he settled on such ho-hum suds as Bud Light, he should’ve first taken a peek at this recent New York Times travel story on Chicago’s new wave of microbrews that includes local stars Goose Island and Piece.

Northalsted Market Days
Proudly presented by Metromix.com.
Jody Watley and En Vogue perform at the 28th annual Lakeview event’s new VIP stage, which costs a whopping $30-$50 per day (the two-tier pricing reflects
a) proximity to the stage and
b) whether you get one or two drinks as part of the package).
The fest, billed as the Midwest’s largest outdoor two-day event also features more than 350 vendors selling arts and crafts, food and drinks and three non-VIP stages of live music.

Jamie Foxx hits up Roof and Sunda!

We’ve heard all about the crazy late-night antics of talented funnyman Jamie Foxx, but that wasn’t the case Tuesday at Sunda, where we hear he was a perfect gentleman to the staff and customers:
“He was taking photos with a lot of the diners and a bunch of kids who were waiting outside for him,” said our Ultimate Insider.

An Ultimate Insider tells us The Drunken Goat—whose official location has been under a cloak of secrecy for four long months—is going into a former manufacturing building at 809-813 W. Randolph St. in the West Loop.
This is the first time a restaurant’s gone into the heavy timber venue that’s now undergoing a massive makeover to turn it into the glammed-out space everyone’s expecting from the team behind it.

Rain won’t stop the screenings, unless lightning, strong winds and other severe conditions are present.

Wandering Goat Dinner Series off to great start

Do you know what kind of creature depicted in the picture? It’s actually a goat-headed mannequin! There was a first Wandering Goat Dinner held on the Near West Side, and this strange mannequin was greeting guests….interesting…
According to 312 Dining Diva, Stephanie Izard’s much-talked about BBQ for the kickoff of the Wandering Goat Dinner Series didn’t disappoint.

The end is definitely near for Grocery Bistro . . .
Just uncovered a document from the Cook County Circuit Court, where the troubled Grocery Bistro’s landlord is suing for more than $24,000 in unpaid rent from the West Loop restaurant and other occupants of the building.
312DD reported Tuesday that plans are underway for the restaurant’s eviction, which we hear may happen this weekend. The case is due in court July 28.
